Free energy assessments and match-funded grants up to £100,000

Sandwell businesses can now access fully funded energy assessments and apply for grants to support energy efficiency improvements, thanks to the Business Energy Advice Service (BEAS).

The BEAS programme offers practical support to help small and medium sized businesses reduce their energy use, cut costs and lower carbon emissions. It’s part of a wider national initiative to support business growth and tackle climate change.

What’s on offer?

  • A free on-site energy assessment
  • Tailored recommendations to reduce energy use
  • 50% match-funded capital grants of up to £100,000
  • Support with grant applications

To be eligible, your business must be classed as an SME, have been operating from a commercial address for at least 12 months, and use at least 25,000 kWh of electricity or gas each year. You also need to be responsible for paying your own energy bills. The programme is available in Sandwell and across the West Midlands Combined Authority area, as well as regions like Worcestershire, Staffordshire and The Marches.

How it works

  1. Register online to express your interest
  2. Receive a free energy assessment at your business premises
  3. Apply for a grant to implement recommended improvements

Eligible improvements include:

  • Solar panels (limit for solar panel funding is £50,000
  • LED lighting and smart controls
  • Efficient heating systems
  • Insulation
  • Ventilation upgrades
  • Water saving and waste management solutions
