This in-person training is designed to build essential knowledge around energy use, efficiency and the wider impact of fuel poverty on communities and workplaces.

Delivered by specialists with more than 25 years of experience in energy advice across the West Midlands, the course provides a clear introduction to energy pricing, the background of the energy crisis and the practical steps organisations can take to support customers, tenants and employees.

The training runs across two sessions with a short break, and there is also an optional pathway for businesses wishing to achieve the full accreditation and certificate.

What you will learn

  • A clear understanding of fuel poverty, its causes and its impact on local communities and businesses.
  • How energy pricing works, including the price cap, costs, charges and the influence of EPC ratings.
  • The background to the energy crisis to help you make informed decisions around energy use and support.
  • How to read SMART meters, identify different meter types and improve day-to-day energy awareness.
  • Practical behaviour changes and energy-saving measures that reduce consumption and improve efficiency.
  • Prevention and support strategies for customers, tenants and vulnerable households.
  • An overview of damp and mould risks, associated health impacts and relevant legislation.

Eligibility

This course is suitable for Sandwell-based businesses that are landlords or tenants of commercial or residential properties, and who want to gain a better understanding of energy efficiency, fuel poverty and legislative responsibilities.

An optional accreditation and certificate pathway is available for attendees who wish to gain the full Quality Mark.
